Glacier still has it….

Hello and thanks for visiting this little old site. Very proud of the books we did and some of the other books I’ve done since. Labor of love here, but neglected at times.

Had a great summer with several good trips into Glacier. The reservation system is a pain, but once you get into the backcountry its still great and the fishing is still great. Its mostly through-hikers out there. Its great when you visit a lake that the only visible changes are vegetation growing. That’s a good passage of time and kudos to the preservation of our national parks.

Support the park and support the folks trying to do something for bull trout. There are lots of bull trout around in random locations, but the big river populations likely will never come back, so the treasure will be on the island populations and random lakes. We need more of those as they have more of a chance to persist. We also need the bull trout recovery goals to count these fish and for them to be open to catch and release fishing, everywhere.

I support the Gunsight Lake replacement project, its too bad pretend environmetnal groups sue on everything, especially when folks actually try to take action to break the logjam of recovery.

The recovery goals for bull trout don’t consider that you can fish for bull trout in Canada and they didn’t consider the many lake dwelling populations not connected to Flathead Lake. But, they do consider that we need to do more for bull trout and so support that where you can.

Also don’t donate to any group you aren’t sure knows what they are doing with your money.

Love you all folks. Hike on.
